The Casio EX-H15 takes over from the Casio EX-H10 and comes with a 14-megapixel camera sensor together with a 10x optical zoom lens. The H15 comes with a spectacular battery life which allows users to take up to 1,000 shots and should make for a good starter digital camera for novice photographers.

Handling and build

The Casio compact digital camera is built and designed well. It features a strong metal and plastic body, and though not coming with a handgrip, is naturally curved to make the camera comfortable in hand. The controls on the camera are well positioned, making the Casio EX-H15 highly accessible. The H15 is a good looking digital camera and the front of the device is shiny and clean with the lens mostly dominating. On the back of the camera we find the H15’s 3-inch LCD screen and a few controls which are well positioned.

Features

The Casio EX-H15 comes with a 14-megapixel CCD camera sensor and a 10x wide-angle zoom lens with a focal range of 24-240 with integrated image stabilisation. The superzoom digital camera also features an extensive Premium Auto mode and is capable of recording in HD at 720p. Images are processed by the camera’s Engine 5.0 image processor which makes the digital camera faster to use while the EX-H15 also comes with 40 Best Shot scene modes for quick and easy shooting. The Casio digital camera doesn’t come with a viewfinder and images are framed and reviewed using the device’s 3-inch LCD screen. An ISO sensitivity range ISO 64 up to ISO 3200 is also offered, together with continuous shooting modes at 4fps and 10fps.

Good image quality

Images of good quality are produced by the Casio EX-H15. Colours come out warm and saturated while at the same time remaining sharp. When using the zoom function, images come out slightly softer at maximum wide-angle, but remain sharper shooting in telephoto. Noise doesn’t affect images that much, and as the ISO sensitivity is increased images becomes softer rather than experiencing visible grainy noise. The Macro mode performance is okay, allowing users to focus as close as 7cm away, while the superzoom digital camera doesn’t do that well at night, but generally better in other low light conditions.
