The Casio Exilim FC150, or EX-FC150, is a cool and sleek high speed shooting compact digital camera.

Coming with a 10.1-megapixel camera sensor and a 5x optical zoom lens, the EX-FC150 is all about keeping simple without losing any speed when capturing images. It’s smart and stylish and when released it took over from the EX-FC100 with improved shooting speeds of up to 40fps.

Design and handling

Casio have made the Casio EX-FC150 to look pretty cool and stylish off the bat with a high gloss finish. The Casio compact digital camera doesn’t come with a handgrip, which can make it rather difficult to hold if things get a little slippery. However, Casio have made sure that all the controls on the digital camera are well positioned to avoid any mishaps with the wrong buttons being pushed by a straying digit. Other than that, the Casio camera is put together pretty well and feels fine in hand, while also remaining comfortable when shooting. On the front of the camera we find the camera’s lens and built-in flash, while on the back of the camera we find a 2.7-inch LCD screen and other controls.

Features

In terms of features, we find that the Casio EX-FC150 has been fitted with a 10.1-megapixel CMOS camera sensor and a 5x optical zoom lens with a focal range of 37-185mm. The Casio compact digital camera features an ISO sensitivity range of ISO 100-3200 and also comes with an Intelligent Auto mode on top of its Auto mode. In making the AF mode even easier to use, it comes with three additional AF modes: Spot, Free and Tracking. A Best Shot Selection mode has also been included and users can capture video in HD at 720p. High Speed is another feature where the Casio excels and comes with other integrated High Speed continuous shooting modes. The EX-FC150 comes with an internal memory of 85.9MB which can be easily expanded through the device’s SD/SDHC memory card slots.

Disappointing image quality

When it comes to image quality, the Casio EX-FC150 performs rather poorly with colours look a bit too vivid and unnatural. Images are also troubled by noise, with images softening significantly at ISO 200 and actual noise occurring at ISO 400. The Macro performance is above average, and the compact digital camera excels at night and in other low lighting conditions.

The Casio EX-FC150 is not the cheapest compact digital camera. It’s a simple camera that is incredibly easy to use, but the image quality is slightly lower what would be expected from consumers, which is rather disappointing.
