The Casio EX-Z2000 is the flagship Casio Exilim digital camera sporting a 14-megapixel camera sensor and an impressive 5x optical zoom lens.

It’s stylish, slim and compact making it the perfect digital camera to take along anywhere to take some awesome snaps in a flash.

Build and design

When it comes to build and design, the Casio EX-Z2000 features some striking lines and an excellent finish. The EX-Z200 is oddly wedge shaped and not cubed as most smaller digital cameras are. Though made totally made from plastic, the EX-Z2000 feels rather tough. However, the Casio compact digital camera does not feature a handgrip, which makes it rather slippery at times. In keeping the Casio digital camera easy to use, the device features a few controls and the zoom function control is well placed, making it a breeze to use.

Features

Casio has made sure that the EX-Z2000 is rather competitive when it comes to features. The Casio EX-Z2000 has been loaded with a 14.1-megapixel CCD camera sensor coupled with a 5x optical zoom lens with a focal range of 26-130mm. To frame and review images, Casio has included a 3-inch LCD screen with a good resolution. The Casio compact digital camera also comes fitted with a Premium Auto mode; however this mode slows the down camera down, which is disappointing. Making the digital camera ready to take on almost any type of scene, a Best Shot Scene feature can also be found on the EX-Z2000.  With an internal memory of 73.8MB, the memory available can be expanded through SD/SDHC memory slots. HD video capture is also included at 720p.

Average image quality

In terms of image quality, the images produced by Casio EX-Z2000 are average. Though coming out a little soft, they can easily be sharpened using photo-editing software. The colours are natural and noise is average, which is pleasing. The 5x optical zoom lens works well enough to produce acceptable images with relatively good sharpness at maximum wide-angle and telephoto. The compact digital camera performs well enough in low-light environments with minimised red-eye effect and does equally well at night.

The Casio EX-Z2000 sells for about £127 and with its features and above average images, it should provide some good value for money with its speedy and reliable performance and is a good digital camera for the amateur photographer.
