The Casio EX-H10 is the world’s thinnest and lightest compact digital camera featuring a 10x wide-angle zoom. The Casio Exilim digital camera also comes with a 12-megapixel camera sensor and an impressive 1,000 shot battery life. Casio has been billed as looking to take over the travel-zoom camera crown from the Panasonic DMC-TZ7; however whether it can measure to its Panasonic competitor is another question.

Okay build and design

In terms of build and design, the Casio EX-H10 is incredibly well-built and designed and is finished well in metallic sliver. Though being made mostly out of plastic, the Casio travel-zoom camera has a tough design and feels good in hand. The side of the Casio compact digital camera is also raised in trying to create a natural handgrip, though it can get slippery at times. The controls on the camera for mostly well placed, but are a little small. The front of the camera is simple only featuring the device’s lens and built-in flash, while the back of the camera features a 3-inch LCD screen and the device’s navigation pad and controls.

Features

The Casio EX-H10 also sports a number of cool features such as a 12-megapixel CCD camera, a 10x wide-angle zoom lens with a zoom range of 24-140mm, 35mm equivalent and an integrated CCD-shift image stabilization mechanism. The Casio travel-zoom camera can also record video in HD at 720p and coming with no sort of viewfinder, images are framed and reviewed using the 3-inch LCD screen. The Casio digital camera also offers an extensive Auto and a range of other scene modes which makes the device easier to use for the amateur photographer.

Okay image quality

When looking at image quality, the Casio EX-H10 produces images of okay quality. Images are, however, plagued by noise, with images looking softer and showing significant noise at ISO 400 onwards. With a maximum shutter speed of 4 seconds, users shouldn’t expect much the Casio travel-zoom camera when it comes to night photography or capturing images in low light environments. However, the built-in flash does work well indoors, with images showing no red-eye and coming out well exposed. The Macro mode is disappointing, but the digital camera performs better when moving towards maximum wide-angle.

The Casio EX-H10 definitely does not measure up to the Panasonic DMC-TZ7, but is still a good travel-zoom camera. The images it captures are okay; it’s built well and makes for a good first digital camera to purchase.
