The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX1 is a stylish ultra-compact digital camera which sports a 10-megapixel camera sensor and a 4x optical zoom lens.

The TX1 is optimised to offer the best low light environment performance and also comes with a range of shooting modes which are sure to impress most photographers.

Good build and design

With its clean metal finish and faceplate, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX1 was designed with the more fashion conscious user in mind. The TX1 could be described as the epitome of minimalist design as the faceplate covers up the lens when not in use. Fitting in the palm of the average hand, the Sony compact digital camera is extremely compact, but still feels good when actually shooting. The TX1 is well-built and also feels incredibly tough and sturdy. On the downside, though, the touchscreen is rather unresponsive at times, which is disappointing.

Features

In terms of features, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX1 sports a 10-megapixel EXMORR back-illuminated CMOS camera sensor and a 4x optical zoom lens with a focal range of 35-140mm, 35mm equivalent.  The Sony compact digital camera has been fitted with Super SteadyShot optical image stabilisation. The TX1 also comes with an intelligent AF mode together with face and smile detection, and scene recognition technology.

Improving the camera’s overall photographic capabilities, the Cyber-Shot digital camera features continuous shooting at 10fps and a Sweep Panorama mode. HD video recording is provided at 720p. The TX1 doesn’t come with any sort of viewfinder and images are framed and reviewed using the 3-inch touchscreen.

Good image quality

The Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX1 produces images of pleasing quality. Noise isn’t an issue with the compact digital camera, and images come out with good sharpness and pleasing, natural colour. The Macro performance is excellent, allowing users to focus from as close as 1cm away. The built-in flash also works incredibly well with no red-eye effect and good overall exposure. With only a maximum shutter speed of 2 seconds, users shouldn’t expect much from the device when shooting at night.

The  Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX1 is well designed, comes with some good features and takes some good images. Users definitely won’t be disappointed by the TX1.
