The Casio EX-FH25 is a superzoom camera following on from the Casio EX-FH20 with its high-speed shooting capabilities.

The Casio bridge camera sports a 10.1-megapixel camera sensor together with a 20x optical zoom lens, which is where the EX-FH25 really shines. The EX-FH25 is sure to have the amateur photographer quickly progressing through the ranks with its easy handling and extensive photographic capabilities.

Good build and handling

At first glance, the Casio EX-FH25 looks like an odd mini-DSLR camera, however this is not to say that the Casio superzoom camera is not well put together as the EX-FH25 stills looks remarkably good. It features a rather large handgrip which makes it easy to get a good grip onto. The controls on the camera are well placed making them easily accessible and adding to the device’s overall ease of use. Features and modes which come with the camera are also easy to access and quickly adjust at any time for that perfect shot.

Features

In terms of features, the Casio EX-FH25 comes with a 10.1-megapixel 1/2.3-inch CMOS camera sensor and a 20x optical zoom lens with a focal range of 26-520mm, 35mm equivalent. The zoom lens is one of the most powerful available on the market, which makes the EX-FH25 a very versatile and flexible superzoom camera. Making the camera really easy to use it comes with an extensive AF mode, however where the superzoom camera excels is when it comes to the Best Scene Shot mode (BSS).

Other modes available on the digital camera include, Program AE, Aperture Priority AE, Shutter Speed Priority AE, Manual Exposure. To frame images, an electronic viewfinder (EVF) is provided together with a 3-inch LCD screen, to review captured images. The Casio digital camera also comes with an ISO sensitivity range of ISO 100-3200 and a high speed shooting mode which allows the camera to shoot at up to 40fps at 9 megapixels. HD video recording is also provided at 720p.

Disappointing image quality

When it comes to images, the Casio EX-FH25 produces images of good colour and average sharpness. However, images are plagued by noise, which is disappointing. From ISO 100, images are softer than they should be. The Casio superzoom camera does perform better at night and in low light environments, with images coming out well exposed. However, the built-in flash does disappoint slightly indoors with some red-eye effect when shooting in portrait mode.

The Casio EX-FH25 is incredibly easy to use and carry around despite its powerful zoom lens. On the downside, though, it performs rather slowly and the image quality leaves a bit to be desired.
