The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS30 is a modern compact digital camera that’s the perfect photographic accessory for the stylish individual looking for a capable, yet good-looking digital camera.

It’s sure to be a hit with numerous consumers with its competitive price point.

First impressions – build and design

At first glance, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS30 looks like it has a tough, solid exterior shell. Though coming with a very boxy shape, it does help the user in making camera easier to grip as it doesn’t come with any handgrip. The controls on the Panasonic compact digital camera are also well placed, increasing the camera’s overall ergonomics. The front of the camera is simple and plain with the digital camera’s lens and built-in flash dominating proceedings. The back of the camera also keeps up the device’s stylish, but simple, design motif with its flush 2.7-inch LCD screen and well placed controls. In hand the DMC-FS30 has a good weight to it, and when shooting the Panasonic digital camera doesn’t feel flimsy at all which is a definite plus.

Features

Looking at the features the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS30 comes with we find a 14.1-megapixel CCD camera sensor and an 8x optical zoom lens with a focal range of 28-224mm, 35mm equivalent. The Panasonic compact digital camera has also been fitted with Panasonic’s latest Intelligent Auto mode which makes the DMC-FS30 a quick and sharp shooter. For even faster and easier shooting a Quick AF mode has been included, together with a few other scene modes in addition to a High Sensitivity mode and Extra Optical Zoom feature which makes the DMC-FS30 a very versatile digital camera. The Panasonic Lumix digital camera can also capture video in HD at 720p at 30fps.

Good image quality

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS30 is capable of producing images of acceptable quality and the AF mode does a spectacular job in spitting out images with good colour, detail and sharpness. In comparison to other similar digital cameras in the same range, the DMC-FS30 outperforms them by a slight distance in terms of sharpness. Shots taken in either portrait mode or maximum wide-angle also retain good quality, which is definite bonus. Noise isn’t that much of a problem with the Panasonic Lumix digital camera and images only soften at ISO 400 and remain usable at ISO 800 for small web prints. The Macro mode performance is good, allowing users to focus from as close 5cm away, and the device does well at night with a maximum shutter speed of 60 seconds allowing the sensor to capture as much light as possible.
