The Fujifilm FinePix REAL 3D W3 is one of the first serious 3D compact cameras to hit the market, and Fuji promises it will have users taking the best immersive 3D HD images in no time. The first 3D camera to come from Fuji experienced some mixed reviews, however it seems that with the W3, Fuji is looking to correct all the small mishaps in the W1.
It looks pretty similar to the Fujifilm FinePix REAL 3D W1 when it comes to the design, but the W3 has been given more dynamic looks with silver linings and a flush metal plate on the front of the camera. Given that it is a 3D digital camera, the W3 has a two lens design for the ‘left eye’ and ‘right eye’ images respectively. Fuji promises that the Fujifilm FinePix REAL 3D W3 will not only take some stunning 3D images, but also capture some great 3D movies, which is an awesome added extra.
Features
In terms of features the Fujifilm FinePix REAL 3D W3 will ship with when finally released, users can expect two 10 megapixel CCD camera sensors with dual FUJINON 3x optical zoom lenses. A wide screen 3D LCD (at 1150K resolution) will display 3D content that can be viewed without those annoying 3D glasses, and a Mini HDMI port will make playback easy on most 3D TVs.

Making 3D more accessible
President of Fujifilm North America’s Imagine and Electronic Imaging Divisions, Go Miyazaki, said in a press release: ‘Last year, Fujifilm introduced the first real, complete solution for 3D digital photography, once again showing our commitment to the evolution of imaging technology. With the new FinePix REAL 3D W3 digital camera, we have made 3D imaging more accessible to all consumers, enabling them to shoot in 3D HD and making it easy to view their photos and movies on most 3D TV systems.’
Let’s hope he makes good on his promise. The Fujifilm FinePix REAL 3D W3 digital camera will be available in September 2010 at a price of £399.

I have a 3D television (Samsung) but I also do 3D photography using the old (antique) stereoscope. The stereoscope uses two 3 1/2 inc square photos on a 3.5 X 7 card to give the stereo effect. Can I retrieve the two images in a jpeg or other format to use with my stereoscope?
