All packed into a compact DSLR unit, the features of the D700 are well balanced and extensive, making it a pleasure for any pro to shoot with. Environmentally sealed and with great functioning in low light, the D700 will keep you shooting no matter where you are.
Specs
The full frame (FX) 12.1 megapixel CMOS sensor has a high dynamic rage and a built-in dust-cleaner which makes for superior quality high-res imaging. The EXPEED imaging processing engine is what gives the D700 its excellent detail and tonal gradation, using 14-bit A/D conversion and 16-bit processing.
Low light poses no problem to the Nikon D700. Its ISO range of 200-6400 can be extended to 100 and 25600 ISO equivalents. Tracking subjects is also made simple with the Multi-CAM3500FX 51-point AF System which can be swapped between 9-, 21- and 51-point coverage settings. Continuous shooting moves at a rate of five frames per second which can be upped to eight frames per second with the MB-D10 battery pack.
Key features
The Nikon D700 uses an Advanced Scene Recognition System which gives users precise exposures and sharp images and the Picture Controls allow for in-camera image adjustments to settings like sharpness and colour with the availability of pre-sets.
Live View with AF will let you frame and focus your shot on the 920 000-dot 3-inch LCD screen and Active D-Lighting will automatically apply tone compensation to high-contrast images.
The environmentally sealed body of the D700 is made of a durable magnesium alloy and the buttons are ergonomically placed for optimal shooting comfort. A DX Crop Mode is automatically enabled whenever a DX lens is attached and HDMI connection allows it to be linked with any high-definition video systems.
The D700 may be one of the babies of the prosumer category but it still has very grown-up features. Don’t let the size fool you because this little one packs a punch.
