The consumer range Nikon D5100 DSLR will have you shooting like a pro in no time. With specs that rival many prosumer products, the D5100 will stimulate your imagination and bring back the magic to your images.

Specs

The 16.2-megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor may not give you the full frame of the FX ranges but it will give you superbly smooth tonal gradation and reduced noise, colours are also pleasingly vivid too. This combined with Nikon’s EXPEED 2 image processing engine endows the D5100 with great performance and excellent image quality.

The Nikon D5100 performs well in low light, too, with an impressive ISO range of 100-6400 which can be extended to 25600 using the Hi.2 setting. The noise in the high ISO ranges has also been reduced and allows for fast shutter speeds and highly detailed images.

Features

For fast action a shooting rate of four frames per second is possible and HDR Imaging enables you to take high dynamic range images with amazing colour and detail. This is done by taking two images with one shutter release which gives you an image with rich colour and detail with minimum noise.

Scene Mode will automatically adjust exposure settings so that well-exposed and detailed images can be taken and Special Effects Modes will let you funk up your photos with effects like Colour Sketch and Miniature Mode.

D-Movie will enable you to shoot high definition movies by just pressing the dedicated record button found next to the shutter release and you can also apply special effects like Miniature Mode to your recordings. Moving objects are kept in focus by the 3D tracking AF and Auto Face Detection will detect a face and then track it to keep the shot sharp.

All this can be viewed on a 3-inch, vari-angle LCD which has a wide-viewing angle and side opening mechanisms which makes it easy to compose a shot from any angle.
