Panasonic are continuing to increase their range of lenses for their G and GF-series cameras. Their new lens is the H-F008 Lumix G Fisheye 8mm/F3.5 lens which features a 180-degree diagonal angle of view. Panasonic are also touting their new lens as the world’s lightest and smallest digital interchangeable fisheye lens to be used with the Lumix G series.
Lightest and smallest in the world
The H-F008 is offering a new creative twist on digital photography and its compatibility with the Micro Four Thirds camera system also offers increased digital photography capabilities. Panasonic have said that the lens is easy enough for use for photographers of all skill levels to use and is also easy to take images from a distance or close up. The H-F008 is also compact and small, making it easy to be carried around without having to use those big and bulky camera carry bags. The dramatic reduction in the size of the lens has been achieved thanks Panasonic adding ‘ten lenses in nine groups’ to make the Panasonic fisheye lens the smallest and lightest in the world.

Looking at how the H-F008 performs, Panasonic have used extra low dispersion glass in the Panasonic fisheye lens which keeps performance constant whether the camera is being used in macro mode or taking a shot of a landscape far away. The H-F008 also doesn’t come short when it comes to speed and Panasonic have made sure that their new fisheye lens is high speed and accurately works together with its range of Panasonic DSLM cameras. Focusing the lens is also silent, as a small step motor has been included within the lens.
Pricing and a release date for the new Panasonic H-F008 Lumix G Fisheye 8mm/F3.5 lens is still unconfirmed. However, we’ll still have to see if the world’s smallest and lightest interchangeable fisheye lens lives up to the hype when finally released.
