Sony has just announced the release of a new super-slim compact digital camera in the form of the Cybershot DSC-TX55. This quality compact is aimed at the high-end compact camera market and has an array of great features as well as super stylish look.

Specs

The Cybershot DSC-TX55 has been given an Exmor R CMOS 16.1-megapixel image sensor. This highly sensitive sensor is said to make low-light photography a breeze while producing highly detailed, low-noise images in any situation. The SteadyShot image stabilisation with active mode will correct both horizontal and vertical camera shake.

The 5x optical zoom can be extended with Sony’s patented Pixel Super Resolution will give you an effective 10x zoom without compromising the 16.1-megapixel resolution. Attaining super-sharp images quickly is also possible with the lighting fast autofocus working in just 0.1 seconds.

Picture Effect Mode

What sets this little camera apart from the rest, besides its tiny 12.2mm body, are the numerous special features found on board. The Picture Effect Mode will let you add an array of effects to your images in-camera. These effects can be added with the push of a button and then viewed and changed as you see fit. Some of the Picture Effect Modes include HDR Painting and Pop Colour.

Other features

The Cybershot DSC-TX55 also has a Superior Auto Mode which will detect a range of scenes and then calculate the correct exposure setting for each scene. The Intelligent Sweep Panorama Mode allows you to simply sweep the camera across a scene to create an HDR panoramic shot with up to a 42.9 megapixel resolution. 3D photographs are also possible with the Cybershot DSC-TX55 and 3D panoramic shots can be taken with the push of a button.

HD video recording

HD video recording can be shot with the Cybershot DSC-TX55 and a Dual Rec mode which will shoot HD video and take 12-megapixel stills simultaneously without interrupting the video recording has been included.

The Cybershot DSC-TX55 will be available in September 2011 at a cost of £215.
