Sony has announced the new Alpha SLT-A77. This new addition to the popular SLT range has been given some impressive specs and has some high performance features. The translucent-mirror range is popular due to its high performance and compact design and the new Sony Alpha SLT-A77 is no different.
Specs
The Sony Alpha SLT-A77 has been given an impressive 24.3-megapixel Exmor APS HD CMOS image sensor. This image sensor, combined with Sony’s Bionz image processor, allows the Sony Alpha SLT-A77 to shoot an amazing 12 full-resolution frames per second in continuous shooting mode (this is brought down to 8 frames a second when using a variable aperture).
Another innovation is its ability to shoot full HD video at a whopping 60 progressive-scan frames per second. There is also full-time phase detection autofocus while you are recording so everything will remain pin-sharp. You can also use manual mode when recording video.
The Auto Focus system has been improved to incorporate a new 19-point autofocus sensor with 11 cross-type points and 1,200 zone metering for pin-sharp images and accurate exposure values.
Features
The Sony Alpha SLT-A77 has been built with a new LCD articulation mechanism which will allow you to move the LCD screen around for different viewing angles and its body has been crafted from weather-sealed magnesium alloy to protect it from the elements.
The electronic viewfinder is also an innovation and will give you an impressive 24 million dot resolution and low-light conditions are combated with a respectable 100-1600 ISO range.
Accessories
Along with the Sony Alpha SLT-A77, Sony has also released a new compatible lens. The Sony DT 16mm-50mm f/2.8 SSM lens has also been weather-sealed against the elements and has a great focal range for portraits as 50mm replicates the view if the human eye without any distortion. Sony has released a weather-sealed battery grip for the new A77, too.
