The Fujifilm GF670 is definitely no ordinary camera. It’s been less than a year since the medium form format film camera was released as the Voigtlander Bessa III to the rest of Europe. And now it seems that the original makers of the camera, Fuji, are now bringing it to UK photographers.
Features
Fujifilm together with Cosina worked together on the medium form format film camera which offers offers 6×6 inch and 6×7 inch format shooting, which can be easily switched between due to a simple, yet unusual switch mechanism. The Fujifilm GF670 also uses 120 and 220 roll film and features a Fujinon EBC 80 lens coupled with a rangefinder to help in producing high quality film images.
Other features the GF670 has are manual shutter speed control and automatic and manual autofocus modes, together with ISO control dials which allow the ISO sensitivity to range from 25 to 3200. The medium format film camera has also been designed to be super quiet when in use, coming with a ‘whisper quiet’ shutter mechanism with a speed of 4s to 1/500s. The shutter mechanism is also synced with the Fujifilm camera’s flash.

The renaissance of film photography
Fuji are calling the GF670 the renaissance of medium format photography, and also reported that numerous businesses prefer medium format photography thanks to the size of the high quality images produced. The Fujifilm camera also received a lot of attention when showcased at Focus according to Fujifilm’s Product Manager for film products, Gabriel Dacosta.
The Fujifilm GF670 is currently available in the UK and carries an MSRP of $2,199 (just above £1,490).
