The Canon PowerShot SX210 is a high end compact digital camera aiming to claim the compact digital camera crown. It’s definitely not a budget camera, and delivers an impressive set of features together with a 14.1 megapixel sensor and 14x optical zoom, making almost any shot possible for any photographer.
Well built
The Canon PowerShot SX210 is a slim camera measuring only 3.2 cm, however when the camera’s lens is fully extended it’s a totally different story, with the powerful zoom lens really coming out a long way. Even though the Canon digital camera may not be the best looking camera for some people, the front of the camera is clean, while the back of the camera is dominated by the camera’s 16:9 LCD screen and jog dial and four buttons which allow users to sweep through the camera’s numerous modes. Given that the Canon camera does have so many features, many of the modes have been already been optimized, making the high end camera even easier to use. The build feels rather sturdy, and it seems that SX210 would be able to survive a drop now and then.
Features
In terms of features, the Canon PowerShot SX210 has a 14 megapixel CCD sensor coupled with a 14x, 28-392mm optical zoom lens with built-in image stabiliser to provide high quality images. A 3-inch LCD screen, DIGIC 4 image processing engine (which works surprisingly well) and an HD movie mode which records at 720p also come with the Canon digital camera. The camera also has a pop-up flash which could cause a bit of a fright it the camera switched on whilst inside someone’s pocket. However, it doesn’t stop there, as the SX210 comes with Smart Auto mode with Scene Detection Technology and in helping novice photographers; the SX210 also features an Easy mode. The more experienced photographers are also accounted for with the compact digital camera featuring numerous manual exposure modes.

Image quality
The image quality the Canon Powershot SX210 delivers is superb and the manual control it awards to photographers is also a big plus for the camera. The colour the SX210 provides is warm and rich while remaining natural. Images produce good sharpness most of the time, whether shooting something far away or close up, thanks to the camera’s powerful zoom lens. The ISO range isn’t that high, though, with the Canon digital camera featuring an ISO sensitivity range of ISO 80 to ISO 1600. Noise for most of the time is kept at bay, and only becomes a slight issue when working at ISO 800. Overall, the Canon digital camera provides outstanding image quality thanks to its amazing lens and DIGIC 4 image processing engine.
The Canon PowerShot SX210 is definitely a high quality camera which may be worth every penny of its £219.99 price tag. It’s priced like a DSLR camera and handles itself like one, while also remaining easy to use for all photographers and delivering the goods each time.
