The Sony Cybershot DSC-H55 is a travel zoom digital camera coming with a 14.1-megapixel sensor and 10x optical zoom lens. This makes the Cybershot DSC-H55 a highly versatile and flexible digital camera which is sure to easily meet the demands of any novice photographer and also please serious photographers.
Good handling and build
The Sony Cybershot DSC-H55 is a well-built and good looking digital camera. It has a good weight to it, making it feel good in hand, and is also easy to handle due to its compact size. The front of the camera is mostly dominated by the camera’s superzoom lens. On the back of the camera we find the Sony digital camera’s LCD screen next to the navigation pad and other controls. The controls on the camera are also well laid out and easy to use, making it very easy to navigate through the DSC-H55’s numerous features. Overall, the Sony superzoom camera handles wells and relatively easy to use for most photographers of all skill levels.

Impressive feature list
In terms of features, the Sony Cybershot DSC-H55 comes with a 14.1-megapixel CCD-Chip 1/2, 3″ camera sensor coupled with a 10x optical zoom lens with a focal range of 25-250mm, 35mm equivalent. In making the DSC-H55 easier to use and also having the H55 produce better images, the Sony superzoom camera comes with an extensive AF mode, a self portrait timer, Sony’s renowned Smile Shutter technology and Sweep Panorama feature. The Sony digital camera also comes with video capture mode, which allows users to record movies in HD at 720p. The Sony camera also comes with Active SteadyShot image stabilisation technology and Face Detection technology.
Good image quality
In terms of image quality, the Sony Cybershot DSC-H55 produced images of reasonable image quality. The zoom function caused some barrel distortion, but the images produced by the camera remained relatively sharp with good natural colour. The Sony superzoom camera only experienced relatively increased noise at ISO 800 with the images increasing in noise as the ISO sensitivity increases. The DSC-H55 also comes with a relatively good Macro mode, and the videos shot by the Sony digital camera were also of above average quality.

The Sony Cybershot DSC-H55 has a retail price of £179.00, it’s feature-packed and comes with Sony’s amazing Sweeping Panorama mode. It produces images of relatively good quality given its zoom, and the video recording in HD is an added bonus. It’s a definite winner when it comes to superzoom cameras and is a very reliable digital camera.
